Auto Stop/Brake Descenders

GRIGRI
Belay device and self-braking descender

To belay a climber, you slide the rope smoothly through the device. If the climber falls, the sudden pull makes the cam pivot, which presses on the rope and stops it running. For lowering a team-mate off a climb using a Grigri, you operate the handle so as to un-Jam the rope and you control the running of the rope by varying your grip on the free end of the rope. Although it gives greater safety, the Grigri is not a substitute for vigilance on the part of the belayer, who must remain attentive to the climber at all times. For use with a single 10-11 mm UIAA dynamic rope (9.7 accepted).

Stop D09

Self-Braking Descender

Designed for use on vertical drops, the Stop can be used on single ropes from 10 to 11 mm.  It brakes automatically as soon as the handle is released.  Controlling the speed of the descent is done by varying the grip on the free end of the rope - braking is overridden as soon as the handle is pressed.  The clip allows it to be placed on and off the rope without detaching it from the harness.

I'D
Self-braking descender/belay device
The I'D is primarily a particularly efficient and user-friendly descender. You will be amazed at how easy it is to place on the rope. To descend simply pull on the handle while keeping hold of the rope, controlling the running of the rope by varying the grip on the free end. As soon as the handle is released, it locks. The I'D offers unmatched security in descent and has an "anti-panic" function: it locks automatically if the handle is gripped too hard. By simply swinging the handle, the device is locked onto the rope for work positioning.  It is also perfectly suited for emergency evacuation down the rope. Rope climbing is perfectly possible and effective by using the ID with a handled rope clamp/grab and a foot loop. Finally, it may also be used for belaying the leader or the second on the rope.

Rope diameter:           10-11.5 mm
