FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 2004 -- Douglas Hansen's High Angle Technologies, Inc. Ready for Business!Yes, after almost three years, Hansen's High Angle (Work, training, Equipment, and Rescue in High Places) Business is all but complete. "I just figured it would be business as usual." Said Hansen, about going into HAT full time. Hansen sold his successful Recreational Business at the latter part of 1999 to Keller Clark, and Brett Francis who now call it High Adventure Specialties. After over two and half decades of retail business in the sporting good market Hansen was ready for a change for several reasons. In doing so he felt it would be almost the same as running his old business, "boy was I wrong!" said Hansen. I had to redefine almost every part, and develop new markets, new class structures, new accounting procedures, new business forms, even new ways of doing business. Now over 95% of his clientele is in the field, verses over 95% coming to his former business, "Hansen Mountaineering Inc."New equipment to buy, and boy is that expensive. With some many unpredictable things on every job, it is easy to see why no one else wants to attempt his specialized service. "Working in the natural environment presents many uncontrollable situations: weather, when it rains the rock gets slippery and natural rock fall increases. That along with the lightning make it insane to try to work. Everything takes about four to five times longer if things go well. That in itself is a challenge, but then to explain to the client why you do thing the right way or safe way, plus the extra time, "It is hard to get paid properly for the work you do. It is hard for the client to see why it takes so long when at ground level the same job takes only a fraction of the time to do." Hansen pointed out. "Fortunately we work with some great engineers, and other professionals that respect and understand the many years of training and experience it requires to safely do this type of work."Below is the announcement when he first jumped into the High Angle Technologies full time. We'll be watching the papers for more stories. In case you are interested go to Rock and Roll to see other articles.
